Our family loves going on nature hikes and since overseas travel was curbed, we started exploring more locally. There're many nature trails to discover here and some of the gems can be found on Sentosa - the Imbiah Trail, Coastal Trail and Mount Imbiah Nature Trail. The first two are pretty known but the last one not so much and more secluded.
If you’re planning to hike with the kids or on your own, you can try out the Siloso Trail as part of the MSIG Biodiversity Mission 2021 on District app. MSIG Insurance has developed 2 trail challenges that you can do in Singapore - Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve and Siloso trails - in order to raise awareness about the biodiversity at these 2 sites. The trails are FREE and open to everyone. All you need is the latest version of the District app and off you go!
We did just that and for once, wifey & I took a backseat and let the monkies take the lead in the Siloso trail. Using the District app, they navigated through the trail, stopped at various checkpoints to either collect points or answer questions about the local biodiversity we came across on the trail. Swipe to see how they did for some of them! In addition to points earned along the way, 200 points will be awarded for every 1km walked. Let’s just say I have never seen them so eager to compete and walk MORE. Maybe because there are $50 sports vouchers to be won for the top scorers! LOL.
So if you have been trying your darndest to get the kids outdoors, maybe the MSIG Biodiversity Mission will be up their alley. The app is super easy to use, the trails are kid-friendly (even for beginners), there are points to earn, and the kids get to learn more about the fauna and flora in our home country too. Lotsa wins right there!

Another weekend. Another nature park.
We headed to Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve for our weekly date with Nature. There are two entrances to the Reserve and personally, I feel the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve extension is more kids-friendly, with three different boardwalks catering to all.
The Mid-canopy Walk immerses visitors in the understory of a secondary forest through an elevated, 120m-long boardwalk, where they can spot birds and insects like cicadas that reside in the mid-canopy region and forest floor while the Coastal boardwalk offers a scenic and breathtaking view of the Kranji waterfront with pods serving as lookout points. Lastly, the Forest Trail offers visitors the chance to experience the sights and sounds of the reserve up close, and learn more about the plants and wildlife which are unique to the reserve.
Pretty good walk overall but compared to all of the other parks we visited the past few weeks, this was easily the most crowded one of all (see last pic). So if you want to stay away from crowds, you may wish to consider more ulu parks like these: www.cheekiemonkie.net/2020/06/remote-parks-in-singapore.html

Re-sharing this because there's nothing like nature and the great outdoors to lift one's spirits. And also, it's better to go for a walk at the parks (compared to air-conditioned places) because almost everyone is constantly on the move so there's hardly a chance of being caught in queues or crowded situations.
AGAIN, I've to emphasize that please only head out if you are feeling well. STAY AT HOME if you are unwell.
