Selamat Hari Guru Cikgu Anwar Ibrahim!

Salah satu sumbangan besar Anwar Ibrahim melalui usaha pendidikan adalah penubuhan Yayasan Anda Akademik (YAA).

YAA yang dipelopori saudara Anwar Ibrahim pada bulan Mac 1971 merupakan sebuah institusi pendidikan swasta Islam-Melayu yang menawarkan ruang bagi pelajar-pelajar Melayu menyambung pelajaran. Kebanyakannya yang telah gagal mencapai gred dalam sistem sekolah kerajaan biasa (memberikan peluang kedua kepada pelajar tercicir).

Penubuhan institusi ini antara lainnya untuk menyediakan peluang belajar kepada pelajar-pelajar dari sekolah-sekolah bantuan penuh kerajaan yang tidak bernasib baik untuk meneruskan pengajian ke peringkat yang lebih tinggi.

Sebagai satu institusi yang mempunyai faslsafah pendidikan yang tersendiri, kesemua aktiviti kurikulum dan kokurikulum digemblengkan ke arah melahirkan seorang insan yang akademis dan bertaqwa.

Sesuai dengan motto penubuhannya yang berusaha untuk memberikan pendidikan di segenap peringkat lapisan masyarakat terutama di kalangan mereka yang berpendapatan rendah, maka sudah pasti YAA bertindak dengan mengenakan yuran pengajian yang paling minimum, tetapi mutu pendidikan yang disediakan sudah teruji keberkesanannya.

Sambutan masyarakat terhadap institusi ini amatlah menggalakkan. Suatu yang perlu dibanggakan ialah institusi ini telah berjaya mencapai objektif penubuhannya iaitu dengan bertambahnya bilangan bekas lulusannya yang berjaya melanjutkan pelajaran ke pusat-pusat pengajian tinggi tempatan dan luar negeri.

Tidak syak lagi bahwa kejayaan-kejayaan yang dicapai sama ada dalam bidang akdemik mahupun kerohanian di masa yang lalu, adalah hasil dari beberapa program yang telah dirancang dan dijayakan dengan amat berkesan.

Di antara program yang dipercayai telah membantu YAA dikenali ramai ialah dengan lawatan-lawatan sambil belajar yang telah dianjurkan di masa lalu.

Happy Teachers Day Teacher Anwar Ibrahim!

One of the most important contributions by Anwar Ibrahim vis-à-vis education was the establishment of Yayasan Anda Akademik (YAA), a private secondary school that provided the means for continuing education to the mostly Malay students who could not make the grades at government schools (offering dropouts a second chance at the system).

YAA was established in 1971 and Anwar Ibrahim, the then ABIM President became its first headmaster. Many ABIM members were also its first teachers.

YAA was considered unique at the time. While it provided conventional secular education which students would receive in line with the national secondary curriculum, YAA also introduced courses on Islam such as Islam as a way of life and worldview, Islamic renaissance and movements for reform, comparative religions, Islamic economics and Islamic political systems.
