Left: Scattering Flower Petals, 1937
Scattering Flower Petals Chang Dai-chien (1899-1983), Republican period Hanging scroll, ink and colors on paper, 176 x 93 cm According to the inscription written in the upper left by Chang Dai-chien, this work was painted in 1937 as Japanese forces were advancing on the city of Beiping (Beijing). The painting at the time perhaps only consisted of ink lines and a few washes for the details, the more slender figure and line under the eye revealing traces from the style of lady painting practiced in the late Qing dynasty (1644-1911). Chang then took this painting with him to Chengdu and sold it in 1947. However, in 1957 he bought it back and took it with him in 1967 to Japan, where he had it remounted. Around that time, before the remounting, he added blue, green, and cinnabar hues, also applying gold lines for the details, revealing the influence of his copying wall paintings at Dunhuang in earlier years.

Right:【Cursory Sketches by Dai-chien (I)】
Chang Dai-chien (1899-1983)
Album leaf, ink (and colors) on paper, 23.8 x 35.8 cm
This album consisting of twelve leaves, ranked as a Significant Historic Artifact, was mostly painted in 1956. That year marked Chang Dai-chien's first trip to Europe, and he stayed at the apartment of his cousin, Kuo Yu-shou (1901-1978). Chang inscribed the album again at the end of 1960, when a few paintings may have also been done. In most leaves, Chang compares himself to the early thirteenth-century artist Liang Kai (also known for ink painting), even claiming to have surpassed him. The brushwork is here free and unbridled, Chang excelling at the use of ink tones in varying shades and moisture to create forms bold and animated. The eighth leaf depicts a large mountain form in swaths of ink, the blank areas representing water; it is a technique that foreshadows the more abstract developments in Chang Dai-chien's later painting.
This album is from the collection of the National Museum of History. *For another leaf from the album, see "My Little Monkey and I" on display in Gallery 208.

[Spain x Valencia Unique Street Sight]
If you have ever been to Valencia I wonder if the mandarin trees scattering around the city interests you or not. At least I did..
So I asked my local friend and her dad "Why is there so many mandarin trees? Can you eat them? Can everyone pick them?"
Both my friend and her dad were so amused by my question, it was the first time in their life questing those trees.
---
So I got my answer:
Those trees are owned by government so they are not free for picking. And in fact, because the purpose of those mandarins are to be made into jams, so they are sour, people don't normally go with a basket and pick them (or at least that was what i pictured in my mind...)
And since i am too curios of those mandarin trees, i did some extra research and someone really did give them a try!!https://www.therockysafari.com/2017/01/25/can-you-eat-the-oranges-growing-in-valencia/

Yuuma who has finished eating dinner earlier than us plays around us.
He says 'I'm red ogre' while putting on the mask of favorite ogre.
However, he is a blue ogre. Hahaha
He seems to want to hold the bean-scattering ceremony, and he demands a bean from us.
However, he is an ogre.
Because he is a position of the sides where a bean is thrown, we roar with laughter.
Because he played an ogre, as for him, he answered properly when he was called an ogre.(Yes!) Hahaha

I named it "Lucky Eho-Maki" because I used seven lucky ingredients including lucky colors such as red and yellow: smoked salmon, corn, onion, baby leaves, avocado, mustard mayonnaise, and cracked black pepper.
February 3rd is Setsubun. It is the day before the beginning of Risshun (spring season). On Setsubun, we cleanse away all the evil of the former year and drive away disease-bringing evil spirits for the year to come. This special ritual is called Mamemaki (bean scattering). On this day at night, it is customary now to eat uncut maki-zushi called Eho-Maki ("lucky direction roll") while facing the yearly lucky compass direction, determined by the zodiac symbol of that year.
The lucky direction of the year 2019 is East-Northeast a little bit right. If you eat Eho-Maki facing in that direction it will bring you a good luck. But just remember you have to close your eyes and eat all without speaking! You can speak after you complete it ;)
My darling always must wear the devil mask for the bean scattering. hehe

Lucky Eho-Maki (Salmon Avocado Alasca Futomaki Sushi Roll)
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 15min
Number of servings: 1
Necessary Equipment:
makisu (bamboo sushi-roll mat)
Ingredients:
300g (10.5oz.) cooked Japanese rice (short-grain rice)
2 tbsp Sushisu (seasoning for sushi rice)
1 nori sheet
A
* cracked black pepper
* smoked salmon
* whole kernel corn
* onion slices
* baby leaves
* avocado slices
* mustard mayonnaise
Directions:
1. Place cooked Japanese rice in a bowl. Add Sushisu while the rice is hot and slice through rice using rice paddle to separate the grains. (Cool the rice before you use.)
2. Cover the bamboo sushi-roll mat with plastic wrap. Place nori sheet on the bamboo sushi-roll mat, shiny side down.
3. Spread sushi rice (1.) on the nori sheet using your finger tips, little bit moistened with water.
4. Place A lengthwise on the nori sheet.
5. Roll the bamboo mat forward, hold the line of ingredients firmly with your fingers, make sure all the ingredients are pressed in, roll it completely, and gently press the mat around the roll to shape it (do not squeeze).
You want to eat uncut sushi roll, so don't cut it. You can of course make it smaller!!!
