Aside from #5G capabilities, another #cellphone spec that has potential for widespread adoption in 2020 is high refresh rate #panels.
In 2019, only 0.4% of phones have panels above 90Hz – primarily premium phones and gaming phones.
However, with the gradual maturation of DDI technology and panel material compatibility in addition to cost reductions, #WitsView projects that the technological penetration of panels above 90Hz will reach 12%, with the figure approaching 40% in 2022 and becoming mainstream.
The popularization of high refresh rate cellphones brings with it considerable commercial opportunities. Other than hardware updates, high refresh rate panels are expected to bring about higher fps content for cellphones, from 60fps to 90fps and even to 120fps.
Once the upgrade in fps becomes mainstream, it will have a corresponding effect on the demand for high refresh rate #TV_panels, which exist outside of the #smartphone ecosystem.
