Many, who still need to work, had run out of masks at home. Some has stayed at home for 5 days due to the lack of face mask. While some need to reuse them.
With only a limited supply of face mask, many left empty-handed after queuing for more than 4 hours. You see frustrated shoppers swore at retailer’s staff and banged on the door of the store. But you also see young man shared his box of face masks with those in the queue.
𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝟑𝟎 𝐉𝐚𝐧:
8 million face masks will arrive HK in the next few days for private retail (roughly one piece of face mask per local resident). And 24 million other are coming, but the exact time is unclear.
HK government said that the act of giving out free masks/giving local residents priority/limiting the no. of masks being bought/capping retail prices would not be practical.
HK prison authority would have inmates making masks around the clock from Monday, boosting production by 55% to 70,000 per day.
