Jazz time during quarantine

Other than classical music, I’ve been many jazz bars during the time I was living in New York. Sometimes I was like.. wow their improvs and the chords are just ... mind blending. So I was challenging myself doing some beyond my specialty.

Twelve immigrant artists from different countries bring their talent and expertise to the project of creating theatrical “portraits” of two immigrants who entrusted the group with their stories. Roundabout combines interview footage with a virtual theater piece, written and staged in response to and inspired by the subjects' stories. This is a pre-recorded performance. I am truly honored to have be a part of the collaboration. I salute to all film makers---I can't do it. I can only do acting. Anything else drives me insane!!! The piece is raw as I did it during quarantine with me myself and I. I thank the director Sim Yan Ying YYwho was the sole cheerleader and a great director. I thank Inés Braunwho believed in me and allow me in this crazy process, I thank Cassandra (Nwokah) who introduced me into the circle <3 And of course, Ruoxin's beautiful words brought the true story to theatrical light :)
自己一個人弄了一個多星期，在隔離期間拍出來的。導演在新加坡，作家是中國人但住在紐約。故事是採訪真實人士來的靈感。當然沒有什麼製作value啦，我光是背台詞，弄光，找景，調frame，衣服跟化妝就差不多要瘋掉了。拍電影的所有人你們真的是太太太太厲害了！！！疫情年代演員不能再只是演員，讓我懷念起只需要好好演戲的時光。不過能參與這麼國際化，這麼挑戰的線上戲劇節，實在是一件非常幸福的事情。
英文沒有字幕喔，抱歉。不過是中英混雜的故事，所以不至於讓你看到一半想放棄（I hope)。

Taiwanese indie trio The Chairs is one of the hottest acts in Taiwan right now. Comprised of 27-year-olds Jing Chiu (lead vocals, guitar, keyboard), Zhong Chen (vocals, guitar), and Benson Sun (bass, backing vocals), The Chairs write and perform retro-style songs in both English and Chinese that span a variety of genres, including psychedelic pop, folk, rock, and retro pop. The band was nominated for multiple awards at the Golden Indie Music Awards in Taiwan in 2016 and 2019 and won the Best Vocal Group Award at the 2019 Golden Melody Awards (the equivalent of the Grammy Awards in the Chinese-speaking world.)
The members first met each other in high school and officially formed their band in college, calling themselves The Chairs in order to enter singing competitions because the room they were in at the time had only guitars and, well, chairs. Now with three albums under their belt, they admit they’re still learning about the music business in Asia and other parts of the world. Their first U.S. tour was cancelled when the pandemic broke out in New York. “It was the toughest time for us,” says Chiu. On the flip side, they’ve been able to spend more time making their new album while in quarantine and plan to release it later this year. “Hopefully when the pandemic ends, we can go to places we’ve never been to to do live shows,” adds Chiu.

Today I went into Chinese Latino restaurants and ordered in Chinese and Spanish simultaneously. They were totally shocked! This is a rare type of restaurant in NYC combining cuisine from both China and Latin America, run by Chinese people who immigrated to or grew up in Spanish-speaking countries. They speak fluent Spanish, English, and usually Cantonese or Mandarin as well. There used to be a strong Cuban Chinese restaurant scene in NYC, but those restaurants are almost nonexistent now -- however, there are still several other Chinese Latino restaurants in NYC. The ones I visited include:
