5G將加速市場大爆發 韋僑科技搶攻RFID商機

物聯網(IoT)時代，感測器成為不可或缺的前端數據採集源頭之一，讓各式各樣的裝置具有感知能力，推動人類正式進入智慧生活時代。而看好在5G技術加值下，感測應用商機將再度迎來大爆發，作為感測技術之一的無線射頻辨識(RFID)，也可望因此帶來無限商機。
5G、智慧型手機加速RFID普及
RFID(Radio Frequency Identification)，即所謂射頻識別技術，又稱電子標籤，由讀取器(Reader)和RFID標籤(Tag)組成。作為物聯網感知層的最核心技術，RFID已為物聯網時代帶來革命性改變。RFID具非接觸、遠距離、掃描速度快等特性，可同時對多標籤或高速運動下的物體進行辨識，除了現代人日常慣用的悠遊卡或eTag，近年像是零售、交通管理及物流倉儲等則是近年RFID最主要應用，而在COVID-19(新冠肺炎)驅使下，也刺激RFID在醫療領域的蓬勃發展，例如，透過RFID來追蹤疫苗流向。
而受惠智慧型手機的普及與5G高速發展，更加催化未來RFID商機的大爆發。由恩智浦半導體(NXP，前身為飛利浦半導體)、諾基亞(Nokia)和Sony共同研發的NFC，是以RFID為基礎的一種近場通訊技術，雖然NFC 2004年就出道，但作為行動裝置作業系統(OS)兩大陣營之一的iOS此前僅用以支持自家Apple Pay用，一直到2019年才正式開放權限供第三方使用，未來將開放不同類型NFC標籤可透過原生指令加以讀寫的功能，此舉將讓NFC應用更為廣泛且有彈性。
RFID大廠韋僑科技總經理江鴻佑觀察，未來智慧型手機將成為RFID應用相當重要的讀取器，當人手一機，「可以做的事就更多了！」。例如消費者在購買奢侈品時可以用手機為介面追蹤溯源，韋僑也正跟鹿谷農會進一步合作，要運用RFID技術驗證市場上販售的冠軍烏龍茶真偽。
江鴻佑相當看好NFC將帶來更彈性的三大應用，除了早已成熟普及的電子支付外，第二種則是以手機作為感應介面，進行不限任何裝置的配對，像日本就開發出能夠透過手機與多功能事務機直接配對連線，更方便的資料點對點傳輸，而第三種則是降低使用門檻的防偽溯源應用。
5G正式進入商用化，也成為加速RFID爆發的一股推動力。江鴻佑指出，5G的頻寬更大、速度更快，這對物聯網時代扮演關鍵角色的感測器來說無疑是開啟了更寬廣的大門，讓資料傳輸速度大幅提升，也因此能讓更多各式各樣的感測裝置在高速、低延遲且大連結的傳輸環境發揮更大作用，藉此拓展更多創新應用，如此一來，感測器的價值將會大大提升，而作為感測裝置之一的RFID，也因此受惠。
RFID市場百家爭鳴 一貫化生產能力佔先機
RFID研調機構IDTechEx預估，RFID市場規模將從2018年的116億美元，成長至2022年的130億美元。IDTechEx指出，RFID在許多領域加速發展，特別是零售業、服飾業更在過去3年受到許多關注。而RFID市場蓬勃，也帶動相關RFID製造商前景看好。
成立於1999年的韋僑科技，是台灣RFID研發製造專業大廠，是少數具有RFID從開發設計、製造及銷售等一條龍生產能力的供應商。9成產品外銷歐美及日本，包括知名醫藥大廠羅氏(Roche)、默克(Merck)、科技大廠Sony、零售業者安佳、樂高等都是其客戶。早期RFID被大量應用在交通電子票證，韋僑就曾在2004年拿到台北悠遊卡訂單，發行的600萬張悠遊卡就出自韋僑之手。
面對百家爭鳴的電子標籤市場，韋僑掌握包括天線設計、IC封裝、天線蝕刻及電子貼標貼合等自製能力，透過精密設計與製程的競爭優勢，聚焦量身定作的客製化產品。像是因應零售業者在服飾應用上對於軟性標籤的需求，韋僑投入鋁材質的電子貼標(Label)產品開發，除了在使用上更加符合需求，還因此成功將成本降為銅材質的10分之1，另外像是容易受金屬環境干擾的工業應用，韋僑也透過天線與材料的特殊處理，設計出能抗干擾的特殊性的RFID標籤。
RFID的產品應用領域可分為卡片、感應扣、Tag和電子貼標，特別是Tag和貼標這兩大應用能夠更加凸顯製造商少量多樣的設計製造能力，包括在天線設計、材料與製程上，都相當依賴製造商對於RFID技術應用之深度與廣度的掌握，才能夠配合客戶需求，提供品質及價格兼具的解決方案，這也是為何目前韋僑以RFID Label與RFID Tag為主力產品的原因之一。
其中智慧醫療就是韋僑在RFID Label深耕市場之一。像是RFID運用在醫療耗材產品，包括注射針筒及手術止血帶，醫師開刀後，可藉由讀取RFID適時盤點開刀房止血帶數量，避免發生人為疏忽。江鴻佑指出，雖然醫療領域開發週期長，但具有訂單穩定的優勢，且因產品皆經過美國FDA認證，客戶不易更 換供應商，是一高門檻，但高單價、高毛利的利基型市場。
客製化經驗 助台灣製造業加速邁向工業4.0
RFID在工業領域的應用則具有相當大的挑戰，但這也成為接下來韋僑在台布局目標之一。江鴻佑指出，大部分工業場景的干擾多，包括高溫、高濕，或佈滿金屬與酸鹼環境，RFID要能在工廠順利運行，光是在技術上就是一項挑戰，一旦前端感測層佈建受阻，將不利接下來各種智慧製造應用的推動。
江鴻佑也觀察到，由於RFID在工業應用上需要視每一種特殊情況因應，無論對SI業者或RFID製造商來說，需要能夠針對業者需求，設計並整合出符合場域的完整產品方案，「RFID技術很成熟，但是要找到合適的RFID方案就不是那麼容易了。」而江鴻佑認為，這是推動智慧製造最複雜且最難的部分，但往往也是目前台灣市場上最欠缺的。
因此這也成為韋僑接下來在台灣市場布局的主要目標之一。韋僑希望藉由過去為歐美日市場客戶客製化經驗，透過深耕不同垂直產業的系統整合商合作，成為台灣製造業者在物聯網解決方案的最佳夥伴。像是目前韋僑已初步跟中冠資訊合作，發展紡織業或無塵衣的RFID應用。
而像是近年在智慧機械常見的智慧刀具管理應用，也利用導入RFID作為刀具的產品履歷，即時掌握刀具的流向與維修狀態等。江鴻佑透露，過去國外大廠曾導入韋僑的RFID技術發展出智慧刀具應用，但包裝完賣給台灣製造業者卻有10倍價差。江鴻佑認為相當可惜，他認為，台灣製造業者具有發展智慧製造相當好的利基，只是缺少機會，沒找到對的Partner，而韋僑接下來布局台灣市場，就是希望能夠提供在地化且適合台灣製造業的最佳解決方案。
