美國在台協會處長酈英傑今天在台中度過了美好的一天！處長首先出席了美光科技新廠盛大的開幕儀式，接著與眾多智慧機械產業高層會面，彼此交換意見，最後參觀了最先進的康寧工廠。美光科技在台灣創造了超過5,300個工作崗位，智慧機械是美台技術合作最有潛力的領域之一；而康寧製造許多手機和電視所使用的玻璃面板。美光和康寧兩家公司是台灣最大的外國投資者，也是我們共同建立新興數位經濟的象徵。

AIT Director Brent Christensen spent a fabulous day in Taichung to celebrate the Grand Opening of Micron’s new facility, exchanging views with smart machinery executives, and touring the state of the art Corning factory. Micron has created more than 5,300 jobs here; smart machinery is one of the most promising areas for closer U.S.-Taiwan technology cooperation, and Corning makes the glass that goes in so many of our mobile phones and TVs. The two companies are the largest foreign investors in Taiwan, and a symbol of how together we are building the emerging digital economy.
