Remember God After You Have Prospered

“You shall observe to do all the commandments which I command you today, that you may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers. You shall remember all the way which Yahweh your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, to prove you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments, or not. He humbled you, and allowed you to be hungry, and fed you with manna, which you didn’t know, neither did your fathers know; that he might teach you that man does not live by bread only, but man lives by every word that proceeds out of Yahweh’s mouth. Your clothing didn’t grow old on you, neither did your foot swell, these forty years. You shall consider in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so Yahweh your God disciplines you. You shall keep the commandments of Yahweh your God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him. For Yahweh your God brings you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of springs, and underground water flowing into valleys and hills; a land of wheat and barley, and vines and fig trees and pomegranates; a land of olive trees and honey; a land in which you shall eat bread without scarceness, you shall not lack anything in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills you may dig copper. You shall eat and be full, and you shall bless Yahweh your God for the good land which he has given you. Beware lest you forget Yahweh your God, in not keeping his commandments, and his ordinances, and his statutes, which I command you today; lest, when you have eaten and are full, and have built fine houses, and lived in them; and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold is multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied; then your heart might be lifted up, and you forget Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage; who led you through the great and terrible wilderness, with venomous snakes and scorpions, and thirsty ground where there was no water; who poured water for you out of the rock of flint; who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers didn’t know; that he might humble you, and that he might prove you, to do you good at your latter end: and lest you say in your heart, “My power and the might of my hand has gotten me this wealth.” But you shall remember Yahweh your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth; that he may establish his covenant which he swore to your fathers, as it is today.” (Deuteronomy 8:1-18 WEB)

The Lord gave me a word “scorpions” which led me to this passage.

I sense that a lot of us here have been through a long wilderness journey where we have been asking God “How long more,” and we are already close to entering our promised land.

As we are about to enjoy His marvelous restoration and multiplication of provision in our lives, in whatever way He has been leading you, REMEMBER HIM when you go into the land flowing with milk and honey.

Don’t forget all the precious lessons about humility and faith that you learned while in the dry wilderness.

Money can be destructive because the sinful flesh is tempted to make money its idol.

Keep your eyes on Jesus…

There is a reason why things take time. The preparation phase is needed so that you would be able to handle the sudden multiplication.

Despite all the tough times, God has always been faithful to you, and you are still alive. Give thanks to Him!

Under the New Covenant of Grace, to keep God’s commandments means to believe in Jesus Christ and to love one another as Christ has loved us. Will you allow yourself to continue being led by the Spirit to walk in love, even after you have prospered?

I say again, REMEMBER HIM. Okay, now go and possess your promised land. The Lord shall go before you, and you will approach it one step at a time with each passing day!

Fight Only your Battles

“After these things, God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” He said, “Here I am.” He said, “Now take your son, your only son, whom you love, even Isaac, and go into the land of Moriah. Offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I will tell you of.” Abraham rose early in the morning, and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son. He split the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went to the place of which God had told him.” (Genesis‬ ‭22:1-3‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

God told Abraham to sacrifice his beloved son of promise.

There is a reason why God did not ask Sarah do it. He knew that she would not be able to.

After being ridiculed for decades for being barren, she finally had her only son after much patience, perseverance, and probably tears.

Asking Sarah to sacrifice her son as an offering is akin to driving her insane and probably suicide. There is no mention of Abraham telling Sarah about God’s instruction.

Abraham probably left home with a heavy heart, just kissing Sarah goodbye and telling her that he was going out with Isaac to spend some time together. We don’t know exactly what he told her, but it is probably not, “Dear, I am bringing our son now to be offered as a burnt offering because God said so.”

God saw Abraham’s heart and knew that he would be able to pass the test.

“No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭10:13‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

When God tests a person, it is not because He does not know the outcome. He wants to teach us something through the test, enabling us to grow closer to Him and know Him better.

In the case of Abraham’s test, we are taught that someone restrained Abraham from sacrificing his son, but at the cross, no one restrained God from sacrifice Jesus, His only begotten Son. There was no substitute. Jesus had to bleed and die so that we would be saved.

If you are married, your marriage is also a partnership. Your spouse has a unique set of gifts, anointings, and a calling that is different from yours. God will use you for what you are good at (what He designed you for), and He will use your spouse for what he/she is good at. This way, your family unit will benefit from both sets of graces.

As a married person, your role is not to do everything, as God will delegate tasks to you and your spouse. Trust that He knows what He is doing.

Abraham’s test was designed by God for Abraham, not Sarah. Fight only your battles.

If you have an urge to do everything yourself, it is time to release that control into God’s hands. He wants you to enjoy a level of restfulness that comes from each person doing what he/she has the grace and capacity to do. The Holy Spirit will lead you!

True Profit Comes From the Spirit

“For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing. For desire is present with me, but I don’t find it doing that which is good.” (Romans‬ ‭7:18‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Should we rely on the flesh or rely on the Spirit?

Many people think that the flesh is at least a little bit good.

We must come into agreement with Scripture and believe that nothing good dwells in our flesh. If not, we will always be tempted to rely on the flesh.

“I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” (John‬ ‭15:5‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Do we really trust Jesus when He says that we cannot do anything apart from Him?

When you still think that you can do something on your own without Jesus holding you and it together by His power, then you will find it unnecessary to rely on the Spirit.

“I can handle this on my own. If I really cannot, then I will ask Jesus for help.” We tend to place prayer as a last resort rather than the necessary resort.

“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” (John‬ ‭6:63‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

Everything life-giving comes from the Holy Spirit.

When you receive life from the Spirit, it means healing, health, long life, youth, beauty, prosperity, peace, soundness of mind, and good success in all things.

“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers.” (3 John‬ ‭1:2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

The prayer above is a good summary of what we receive when we rely on the Spirit. How would you like to prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers? This is true, lasting, holistic prosperity that comes from the Spirit (it is received through prayer).

No matter how strong or intelligent you are, do not be distracted by these talents. The flesh profits nothing in comparison to what the Spirit can do for you. Rely on the Holy Spirit—the more you do so, the more life you shall experience in the areas that you submit to Him!

Many people who want to be physically young and beautiful rely on the flesh to achieve this. Exercise, supplements, aesthetic treatments—these are some of the ways the world uses. However, we should not neglect the best way which is youth renewal through the Holy Spirit. He always works through God’s word.

To vaccine or not to vaccine? This is an ongoing heated debate. For the past few days, many of you have been sending us DMs asking where we stand in this matter. Truthfully, we have chosen to vaccinate all three of our children, Omar Mukhtar, Fatimah and Ali. And, if God will give us more children, we would still choose to vaccinate them. Why? Well, I’m not a medical expert nor do I have a qualification in the medical field. So, allow me to put it across in simple words.

When our children are ill, we will bring them to the hospital. And when the doctors prescribe them with medication, we normally follow their advice. So, when they suggested that vaccinations are good for our children, we took the advice because we believe that they’re the experts in their field, and we should trust them. Yes, of course, all medicines have side effects but according to research, vaccines are amongst the safest! If we look at the benefits of vaccinations, they far outweigh the risk of side effects. Many of us nowadays may be tempted to say no to vaccinations and leave it all to nature. But I believe if Mother Nature could talk, she would say, “Dear Mother Human, go vaccinate your child! Please make a wise decision once and for all!”

However, even though I’m a firm believer of vaccinations, I am also a firm believer of freedom of choice. Those who still have doubts about vaccination need not be judged or pushed into accepting what they don’t want. At the end of the day, everyone is entitled to their own opinion!
