揀男主角、衣服，
安排大家的時間表，邊一場喺邊度拍，
轉景要幾耐，轉妝頭要幾耐，
props 買齊未，開大會，開細會...

終於所有嘢都安排好晒...

到拍攝MV三天前，拍劇集的最後一日，整傷隻腳... 一條韌帶斷咗，兩條撕裂 💔

所有嘢停了，1,000 個問題喺我腦海轉動，但係亦有一股好大嘅平安喺我心裏面。上帝同我講，不用怕，我有最好的安排。

之後要重新再搵過場地，揸住拐杖去睇景，
感激我嘅小助手，
當時陪我睇醫生，重新安排大家嘅時間表，
好多謝我成個團隊對我嘅關心同埋耐性，
終於開咗無數個會之後，
我哋終於完成咗呢個MV。
加埋六個星期嘅後期，終於可以呈現俾你地睇啦！

「師尊本身的愛是這樣的。我既然愛她，就是要她幸福，不是要佔有她，這種愛不是佔有，其實愛不是佔有。如果愛是佔有的話，那就是屬於慾望。如果愛不是佔有，我是祝福她，雖然我愛她，她不愛我，她愛別人，我就祝福她。如果愛別人會比較幸福，我就祝福她。這種愛就不是佔有的愛。如果是佔有的愛，一定會產生痛苦。」

借了師父慣用的笑話，我柔聲細語的說：「別哭，新加坡缺水，要哭要到蓄水池哭，這樣我們可以少看馬來西亞的臉色做人。」

她破涕而笑。

我再說：「我看了妳的八字，現在又看到妳真人，勸你跟我講話老實一點，要不然我幫不到妳。妳明明一直做人家的小三，還敢跟我哭沒有男人要和妳結婚？妳不也偷偷拿了他不少錢嗎？我看妳明明就是一張愛錢的臉。」

奉勸各位大俠，在我面前，若要用眼淚爲武器，請三思，因爲虛偽的，我必定拆你面具。

I looked at the teardrops of my client, pitter patter onto the table top. My client's notebook got wet. The words got muddled.

All the pains in her heart were like the angry river crushing through a broken dam, tearing down the walls as the tears flowed.

To see a lady being let down by love was indeed heart-breaking.

I couldn't help but thought of myself.

You know me. An unyielding character like mine will not shrink like a coward in the name of love. Alas, there are things in life that can't be accomplished solely with courage.

My childhood was filled with a lot of fear. There were often quarrels at home.

My dad didn't want me to be born. My mum often said she wanted to chase me out of the house.

I studied very hard. I did my utmost to be an obedient kid, and I thought I did very well as young child but I was already very capable. However, all these were not enough for me to grow up in a complete family.

So many nights, I got beaten up so badly by my mum that I wanted to just break out of the door and never to see her again. But the mere thought of nobody looking after her pulled me back.

I hated so much. Why wasn't my destiny comparable to other people?

When I first fell in love, I was so elated. The fireworks in my heart exploded non-stop. I finally found someone. I was no longer that child which nobody wanted. I was finally worthy of someone's love.

The splendour of first love, however, was as temporal as the rainbow-coloured fireworks. After a loud explosion, it vanished into the darkness of night.

He would often tell me in my face, how much he pined for and loved his secondary school crush, apparently the prettiest and most perfect girl in school.

Once, this campus belle came to our school. When he got wind of the news, he dashed out of the classroom. Failing to see her, he cried for one whole week.

My insecurity caused me to quarrel with him often. In those 3 years and 8 months, I wasn't a great girlfriend. After his NS, he got together with a girl of mixed blood at his university's Orientation camp.

I played pool with a uni mate a few times. One night over ICQ, he teased me for a kiss. My impression of him dropped like hot cakes. Did I look like I was lelong-ing myself? Later, a girl pal told me that he was dating several girls at the same time.

I had a very good friend. Whenever I was in Singapore, he would accompany me to play pool till wee hours. We talked about Dharma, life, and we attended Buddhism and ballroom dancing classes together. I had never met a person who understood me and took care of me so well.

But among our endless conversations of everything and anything, he always told me how he still loved a girl from his school. He couldn't forget her.

Again, I lost to someone who lived in the memory of the guy I liked.

This one-sided love of mine burned for two years. It was very, very, very excruciating. I almost didn't make it out alive.

In my second relationship, the boyfriend would always tell me about a pretty girl whom he pursued for half a year, but failed to win her heart. He told me firmly that if he had the chance, he wanted to ask her why she did not choose him.

The abusive beating at home did not stop even after I grew up.

Later on, when I wanted to become Shifu's disciple, he turned me down flat because he didn't think I had good morals and values. He was blunt, "You are not the person I am looking for."

That night, I cried painfully hard. Suddenly, I felt like I was the kid from my childhood whom nobody wanted.

800 years ago, Emperor Huizong of Song Dynasty wrote in an imperial decree "雨過天青雲破處". It was this that inspired Vincent Fang (方文山) to write the lyrics 『天青色等煙雨，而我在等你』in Jay Chou's song 青花瓷 (Blue and white porcelain).

Vincent Fang said, the most powerless kind of helplessness in love was waiting.

The sky green colour had to wait for the rain, which it had no idea when it would arrive. After the rain stopped, the thick clouds dissipated, in the clear skies, the sky green colour would then be able to appear. This was just like how he could only passively and quietly wait, for his lady whom he had no idea when she would appear.

Gradually, I started thinking that in this lifetime, I would not be able to wait for that person to appear. Perhaps Yue Lao (the elderly celestial under the moon) did not tie the red string on me.

After many years of learning the Dharma, one day, I suddenly came to the realisation that nothing is a must to own.

Secular love is a black hole of desires. That is why romantic shows are evergreen.

On 21 February 2015, the 3rd day of the Lunar New Year, my Root Guru Living Buddha Lian-Sheng spoke in an interview with the Taiwan CTI Television Inc.: https://youtu.be/EPDxwSt6a5I （timestamp 12:08）

"My personal take on love is this. Since I love her, I will want her to be blissful, and not to possess her. Such love isn't possession. Actually love isn't possession. If love is possession, that belongs to desire. If love isn't desire, I will wish her well. Although I love her, she doesn't love me, but loves another person, so I will give her my best wishes. If loving another person brings her more happiness, I will wish her well. Such love isn't possessive love. If it is possessive love, there will surely be pain."

Then I realised, the one that I had been waiting all along for is myself. Waiting for my wisdom to develop, waiting for my heart to be more open, so that I would not place my happiness in the hands of another person, and let the person decide for me when I should be happy, for how long I can stay happy...

My destiny is in my hands. How it pans out is up to me to say.

I gently picked up a serviette from the table and passed it to my lady client. In a mush of mucus and tears, she thanked me.

Borrowing an old joke from Shifu, I gently told her, "Don't cry. Singapore lacks water. If you want to cry, you should cry at a nearby reservoir. This way, we don't have to see the colours of Malaysia in order to get more water."

She broke into a smile among her tears.

I continued, "After looking at your Bazi, and now that I have seen you in person, I advise you to be more honest with me, or else I will not be able to help you. You have all along been a mistress to other men, and you dare to come crying to me that no man wanted to marry you? Didn't you also stole some money from them? The way I see you, you obviously have a money grubber face."

My advice to all swordsmen: If you wish to use your tears as a weapon in front of me, think thrice. Because if you are a hypocrite, I will definitely rip your mask apart.

A LOT – 21 SAVAGE ft J.COLE/ “FLEX”

Mình là một thằng coi và nghe rất nhiều ở Rap. Mỗi người có một style riêng, một cách thể hiện âm nhạc riêng. Nhưng ở cá nhân mình, mình đã chán việc những gã thị trường khai thác về việc Rappers là phải khoe đồ hiệu, khoe những thứ bling bling sáng loáng, xe hơi – ma túy và gái. Thực ra thì việc các Rappers “flex” những điều như vậy vì họ muốn những thứ “Vật chất” kia sẽ là một minh chứng cho sự thành công của bản thân, thẳng thừng và ngay vào mắt. Những đó không phải là một minh chứng duy nhất và là một cái cớ lợi dụng – để những con sói truyền thông bẻ ngược và xây dựng 1 khái niệm “Rappers là phải như vậy”. Và đó là lí do mình cực kì yêu thích A LOT – 1 track trong album “I AM > I WAS”, cũng là giải Grammy đầu tiên của 21 Savage và J.Cole (Oh my boy) .

21 Savage – Tên thật là She’yaa Bin Abraham- Joseph. Sinh ra ở London, 7 tuổi chuyển tới Atlanta, Georgia. Ba mẹ li thân từ sớm, 21 Savage đã nhuốm bàn tay mình bằng tất cả con đường tội phạm ngay từ khi lớp 7 với việc sử dụng súng. Cảm thấy việc học không có ý nghĩa với mình – 21 Savage gia nhập vào một băng đảng đường phố mang tên Bloods (Máu) và trở thành 1 drug-dealer. Bên cạnh đó, 21 Savage cũng từng dính vào các vụ trộm cướp lớn nhỏ (Thông thường là trộm xe hơi). Điều này chỉ ngừng lại khi cánh tay phải của gã là Larry và người bạn thân, Johnny – bị bắn chết và bản thân 21 Savage cũng không ăn ít kẹo đồng. 21 Savage mới ngừng nhúng chàm và nhảy vào rappin’.

Với một quá khứ đen tối như vậy – đặc biệt lyrics của bài “A Lot”, khi 21 Savage có đề cập về vấn đề về việc mình đã từng cầm súng, từng bị bắn. Việc các người anh em bị giết thì đó là thật. The Real shit chứ không phải là trên mỗi lyrics mà các rappers “Cố trở nên gangster” với việc cầm súng trên MV nhan nhản đầy Youtube. Âm nhạc của 21 Savage cũng nhuốm màu bạo lực và nêu lên hệ quả của nó – điều chúng ta có thể cảm tưởng được ở những rappers thời West/East Coast của Mỹ trong một giai đoạn các rappers chỉ nhấn mạnh về “Hưởng và Thụ”.

Như mình đã đề cập ban đầu, “A LOT” mang cho mình 1 sự yêu thích lớn. Không ở bể bơi, không có xe hơi, không có những cô em big ass mặc bikini nguây nguẩy. 21 Savage xuất hiện với một căn biệt thự cổ điển kiểu cũ. (Mà sở hữu được căn đó cũng ối tiền đấy, flex này nó to hơn ở cái tầm). Đi kèm theo đó là những thành viên trong gia đình “MV” của 21 Savage, không ồn ào – không màu mè. Tất cả mọi người đều mặc Vest.
Những bộ vest tạo cho người xem một cảm giác lịch sự, đạo mạo và sự thành công – chuyên nghiệp. Không biết mình có hiểu đúng hay không – nhưng nhìn vào mình cảm nhận được dáng dấp của người da trắng. Người da màu thông thường ở các buổi tiệc của họ sẽ ăn mặc theo hood/crew hơn, chỗ ở cũng không đẹp như trong MV “A LOT”. Có thể 21 Savage muốn “flex” cho người xem về sự “cân bằng” giữa người da màu và da trắng. Khi mà họ cũng có thể sống trong những căn biệt thự to đùng, mặc vest, uống champagne và nhảy trên nền 1 bản nhạc Jazz. Không quá hô hào về đấu tranh sắc tộc, sự công bằng là ai cũng như ai.

NHƯNG

Để đạt được điều đó, tất cả mọi thứ phải đánh đổi.

Khi mà tất cả ngồi trên bàn ăn với bao cao lương mĩ vị, hình ảnh này làm mình nhớ tới bức tranh “Bữa ăn tối cuối cùng” của danh họa Leonardo da Vinci – là bữa ăn sau cùng mà chúa Jesus chia sẻ với môn đồ trước khi ngài chịu chết. Thì ở đây ngược lại, cũng là trung tâm của khung hình – 21 Savages phải chứng kiến những gì mà các thành viên gia đình phải chịu đựng.

(Và nó cũng giải thích con đường đi lên của Rappers nói riêng và những người da màu nói chung)

Đó là gì?

Đó là cảnh bị đưa súng vào đầu của một người em (có vẻ là gangster) trong nhà.

Đó là cảnh người chị đang làm coco ở một xưởng (Thường thấy trong các băng nhóm).

Đó là cảnh một người anh/em nói chuyện qua tấm gương cách li trong tù.

Đó là cảnh một người em trẻ bị bắt nạt bằng bạo lực trong nhà vệ sinh.

Đó là cảnh một cô gái trẻ đang khóc sau một màn bạo lực với người
yêu/chồng. Hoặc theo lyrics là bị “Cheat” – cắm sừng.

Đó là cảnh một ông già với ống thở trên mũi trong việc tranh cãi của 2 người nào đó. Để mình nói thêm về vấn đề này, người da màu thường có thu nhập không cao ở đất Mĩ. Bên cạnh các vấn đề về phân biệt chủng tộc cũng như về văn hóa thì những người da màu lớn tuổi thường sống bằng trợ cấp hay bảo hiểm xã hội. Đây là 1 việc tranh cãi thường niên giữa các đời Tổng Thống với nhau khi Obama phát triển mạnh về dân sinh xã hội còn Trump là 1 Tổng thống cực đoan nên đã cắt thẳng băng việc này.

Đó là cảnh một ông già khác với việc background đằng sau là 1 chiếc oto. Có vẻ 21 Savages muốn nhắc lại nhiều vụ cảnh sát da trắng ngừng xe được lái bởi người da màu và đau thương hơn là có rất nhiều vụ nổ súng không căn cứ mà xuất phát từ nghi vấn phân biệt chủng tộc.

Hậu quả là:

Cảnh người mẹ đang làm một việc giống như đang bảo lãnh cho những việc làm tội phạm sai trái kia.

Cảnh người bố đứng trầm ngâm bên cạnh quan tài chưa đóng của 1 thanh niên da màu còn trẻ.

Cảnh người phụ nữ trung niên thẫn thờ với li rượu.

Đúng vậy – cái hay mà mình thích “A LOT” là việc thay vì “Flex” tiền, xe cộ, ma túy và gái thì 21 Savage “Flex” về những gì mà gã đã trải qua. Thay vì làm hình ảnh những thứ trái pháp luật như 1 hành vi “Be cool”, “Ngầu” và “Gangsta” thì 21 Savage mang tính đời thật hơn – dù làm như thế nào thì mày cũng phải trả giá, và nhiều khi người trả giá không phải mày mà là người thân trong gia đình mày. “This shiet is so real for me, dude!”. Để trở thành 1 Rapper thành công thì tất cả những thứ trên, gã phải trải qua. Như 1 cuốn phim vậy (Mà đó cũng là lí do mà MV khá cinematic).

Về Thời Trang thì không cần nói nhiều, cả 21 Savages và J.Cole đều diện những bộ suits cực kì đẹp và chuẩn chỉ. Người ta mặc suits sẽ 1 vì sự kiện vui (Đám cưới, cầu hôn) hay vì 1 sự kiện buồn ( Đám tang) thì có đủ cả - J.Cole mang phần trắng và 21 Savages mang phần đen.
Cái sự “Bling Bling” cũng rất khéo mà vừa đủ - đối với cảm quan của mình. 21 Savages vẫn sử dụng Grillz. Gã mang thêm một gọng kính đầy chi tiết và có vẻ là bằng vàng, bông tai cũng thế. Trong một outfit đen từ đầu xuống chân, thì các điểm nhấn về trang sức lại tạo sự nổi bật khác biệt và một hiệu ứng tối đa. Nó tạo cho người xem một sự sang, giàu có mà không bị ngộn như 1 đống “Dây chuyền Bling Bling”.

Một cách nào đó – có thể được gọi là “Minimalism/ Tối giản” còn những rappers kia là “Maximalism”/Tối đa chăng?

We’ve all done things in the past we’re not proud of. The best way for us to heal is to accept ourselves- every flaw and moment we’ve been ashamed of to learn to let go of those emotions to truly be happy.

Everyone has a story of their own & this one’s mine. I went through a lot as a child from learning how to cope with the death of my brother, sleeping in cars because we were either homeless or moving from place to place, and leaving my parents to have a better life.

I’ve learned that life moves on, either with or without you - so learn to live life happily, wholeheartedly. Work on yourself and learn to really love yourself by accepting who you were born to be.
