小心嬰幼兒熱過頭
胡太：「天氣炎熱，但不少人在嬰兒車上加擋雨罩，相信是為了防疫，這做法恰當嗎？」

CheckCheckCin：嬰幼兒體溫比成人高，其新陳代謝也快，故產生熱量多，但相對高溫耐受能力卻低，所以在夏天容易有「熱過頭」的情況。嬰兒車裡的嬰幼兒較接近吸熱的地面，如果還加上不透氣的擋雨罩，恐怕防疫不成而容易中暑！
夏天外出時要注意高溫對嬰幼兒的影響，留意他們有否臉色發紅、皮膚發紅發熱、呼吸加速、煩躁不安甚至哭鬧、食慾不振、活動力下降等情況，這些都是中暑症狀。外出時盡量選擇有遮蓋的地方行走，嬰兒車要保持通風，甚至加裝安全的小風扇、冰涼坐墊有助散熱；選擇純棉吸汗的衣物，多準備毛巾抹汗，並且適時補充水份，以防體溫過高。

Watch out for toddlers’ temperature
“Many people install a rain cover in front of the stroller. I believe it is a preventive measure against the COVID-19. Should they be doing this during the hot summer season?”

CheckCheckCin: Toddlers normally would have higher body temperatures than that of the adults, as their metabolism rate is higher and they give out heat. However, their tolerance toward heat is also relatively lower, and toddlers might experience heat exhaustion more easily.

Toddlers inside strollers can feel the heat from below as they are closer to the ground. The rain cover, instead of protecting the toddlers, traps hot air within the stroller and cause the little ones to suffer!

When travelling out during summer, do take note of the toddlers to see if the high temperature affects them. If they start breathing heavily and throwing tantrums, experience appetite loss, become inactive, and their skin and cheeks turn red, there is a possibility they are having a heat stroke.

Try to walk under the shade, and make sure there is proper ventilation in the stroller. If need be, install a mini fan to promote airflow within the confined space. Adding a cooling pad in the stroller can also help dissipate heat. Put toddlers in pure cotton clothes as they are sweat absorbent, and prepare an extra towel to wipe the sweat off their face. Remember to hydrate their body by giving them water to drink from time to time, as this can help lower their body temperature.

ก่อนอื่นเรามารู้จักที่มาของการเกิด “คาร์บอนเครดิต” กันก่อน
ในปี 1997 ได้เกิดการลงนามในพิธีสารโตเกียว โดยมี 37 ประเทศเข้าร่วมพิธีนี้
พร้อมวางเป้าหมายว่าในแต่ละปี ประเทศตัวเองจะลดการปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์ อยู่ที่เท่าไร
พร้อมมีมาตรการทางภาษีสำหรับบริษัทที่ปล่อยก๊าชเรือนกระจกเกินกว่าที่ทางรัฐบาลกำหนด

ซึ่งตอนนั้นหลายประเทศคงเริ่มรู้สึกตัวแล้วว่า อุณหภูมิของโลกที่สูงขึ้นเรื่อย ๆ
น่าจะส่งผลกระทบรุนแรงในอนาคต

จนต่อมาในปี 2015 ได้เกิดคำว่า “คาร์บอนเครดิต”
เมื่อการประชุมที่ปารีส ในประเทศฝรั่งเศส ทุกประเทศมีเป้าหมายร่วมกันคือ
รักษาอุณหภูมิเฉลี่ยพื้นผิวโลกไม่ให้เพิ่มมากขึ้นกว่าที่ควรจะเป็น

หนึ่งในมาตรการที่เกิดขึ้นก็คือการซื้อ-ขาย “คาร์บอนเครดิต”
โดยมีหลักการง่าย ๆ คือ หากบริษัทใดลดการปล่อยคาร์บอนฯ ได้ต่ำกว่าที่รัฐบาลกำหนด
ก็สามารถขายสิทธิ์การปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนฯ ที่เหลือให้บริษัทอื่น ๆ
ที่ปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนฯ เกินกว่าที่รัฐบาลกำหนด นั่นเอง

นั่นแปลว่าหากบริษัทไหนต้องการปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนฯ เป็นจำนวนมาก
ก็จำเป็นต้องซื้อคาร์บอนเครดิตจากบริษัทอื่น

ส่วนทางฝั่งบริษัทที่เป็นผู้ขายก็จะนำเงินที่ได้ มาพัฒนากระบวนการผลิตสินค้าตัวเอง
ที่เน้นใช้พลังงานสีเขียวหรือพลังงานสะอาดมากขึ้นกว่าเดิม

ซึ่งโมเดลนี้ จะส่งผลให้บริษัทที่มีการปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนฯ น้อยอยู่แล้ว
ก็จะลดน้อยลงเรื่อย ๆ จนในที่สุดก็ก้าวไปสู่ Net Zero หรือค่าการปล่อยมลพิษเป็นศูนย์

ส่วนบริษัทไหนที่ไม่อยากมีต้นทุนทางธุรกิจเพิ่ม ก็หันมาเคร่งครัดการลดการปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนฯ
ในกระบวนการผลิตและอื่น ๆ

ผลลัพธ์ที่ได้ก็คือ ภาพรวมการปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนฯ น้อยลงเรื่อย ๆ
โดยโมเดลนี้ก็ถูกนำไปใช้ในหลาย ๆ ประเทศทั่วโลก
อย่างเช่น สหภาพยุโรป, ออสเตรเลีย และสหรัฐอเมริกา ซึ่งเป็นตลาดซื้อขายคาร์บอนเครดิตในภาคบังคับ

ส่วนในประเทศไทยนั้นเป็น ตลาดสมัครใจ
คือเป็นการซื้อ-ขายที่ไม่มีกฎระเบียบข้อบังคับจากทางภาครัฐ

โดยความเคลื่อนไหวล่าสุดในเรื่องคาร์บอนเครดิต
ก็คือ การก่อตั้ง Carbon Markets Club นำโดย กลุ่มบริษัทบางจากฯ พร้อมด้วยความร่วมมือจากบริษัทยักษ์ใหญ่ของประเทศไทยมาเข้าร่วม ได้แก่ กฟผ., เครือเจริญโภคภัณฑ์, เชลล์, บีทีเอส กรุ๊ป, เต็ดตรา แพ้ค, บางกอกอินดัสเทรียลแก๊ส, ธนาคารกสิกรไทย และธนาคารกรุงศรีฯ

11 บริษัทนี้ก็มาทำการซื้อ-ขาย คาร์บอนเครดิต
โดยมีผู้ขายคือ บริษัท บีซีพีจี และการไฟฟ้าฝ่ายผลิตแห่งประเทศไทย
ซึ่งมีราคาขายอยู่ที่ 25 บาทต่อ 1 ตันคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์ (tCO2e)

และเพียงวันแรกที่เปิดตลาดซื้อ-ขายกันนั้นมีมูลค่ารวม 2,564 ตันคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์
ซึ่งเทียบเท่ากับการปลูกต้นไม้ใหญ่ 298,140 ต้น หรือคิดเป็น 1,491 ไร่

ที่น่าสนใจก็คือ Carbon Markets Club ที่เกิดขึ้นครั้งนี้
ยังช่วยประสานงานการขายให้แก่คนทั่วไปที่ต้องการซื้อ คาร์บอนเครดิต จากองค์การบริหารจัดการก๊าซเรือนกระจก หรืออบก. อีกด้วย

รู้หรือไม่ว่า ค่าเฉลี่ยคนไทยปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนฯ 3.77 ตันต่อคน
โดยตัวเลขนี้จะเป็นการคำนวณค่าเฉลี่ยจากภาคการผลิตและภาคขนส่งของประเทศ
ที่ในปี 2020 มีการปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนฯ รวมกัน 224.3 ล้านตัน

โดยแบ่งเป็นภาคการผลิตไฟฟ้า 40% ภาคอุตสาหกรรม 29% ภาคขนส่ง 25%
ที่เหลือคือภาคธุรกิจอื่น ๆ 6%

ข้อมูลตรงนี้ ทำให้ปฏิเสธไม่ได้ว่า ใน 1 วันตัวเราเองก็เป็นผู้ก่อให้เกิดก๊าซคาร์บอนฯ
เพราะเราต้องใช้ไฟฟ้าและเดินทางบนท้องถนนอยู่เป็นประจำ

ทีนี้หลายคนคงถามว่า แล้วเงินที่ได้จากการขายคาร์บอนเครดิตถูกนำไปใช้ประโยชน์อะไร ?

คำตอบก็คือ นอกจากจะนำไปใช้ในเรื่องพัฒนาสิ่งแวดล้อมแล้วนั้น
เงินอีกก้อนก็จะถูกนำไปใช้พัฒนากระบวนการผลิตที่เป็นมิตรกับสิ่งแวดล้อม

อีกทั้งในอนาคตก็มีแนวโน้มว่าจะสามารถนำใบรับรองการซื้อคาร์บอนเครดิต
ไปลดหย่อนภาษีได้อีกต่างหาก

ทีนี้ก็น่าจะทำให้เกิดคำถามว่า ควรซื้อหรือไม่ควรซื้อ ?
เรื่องนี้ก็คงขึ้นอยู่กับมุมมองและความสมัครใจของแต่ละคน

ส่วนในมุมของ ลงทุนแมน เรื่องนี้อาจไม่ใช่ประเด็นสำคัญ
เพราะสิ่งที่อยากสื่อสารตั้งแต่ตัวอักษรแรกในบทความนี้

คือต้องการจะบอกทุกคนว่า ที่ผ่านมาเราต่างรู้สึกกันว่า
ในแต่ละวันที่มีอุณหภูมิร้อนขึ้น เราอาจมองว่าเป็นเรื่องปกติ
แต่ความจริงแล้วปัญหานี้แค่รอเวลาจะ “ระเบิด”

ซึ่งมันจะระเบิดในช่วงเวลาที่เรามีชีวิตอยู่ หรือจะรุ่นลูกรุ่นหลาน คงไม่มีใครตอบได้
แต่ที่แน่ ๆ ภาวะโลกร้อน ณ วันนี้ ยังคงไม่มีทางแก้ไข
สิ่งที่ทำได้แค่เพียง “ซื้อเวลา” ที่จะไม่ให้วิกฤติต่าง ๆ เกิดขึ้นเร็วกว่าที่คิดไว้ นั่นเอง..

For this episode, we headed back to Neo’s Kitchen to attempt a LEVEL 99 SPICY MALA WONTON CHALLENGE! EB Food is organising a timed wonton challenge with the launch of their new product, EB Shrimp Wonton with Mala Sauce. Eating the greatest number of EB wontons in 5 minutes will net you a cash prize of $2000, with further cash prizes for 2nd and 3rd place. Full details listed below:

The EB Shrimp Wonton with Mala Sauce came neatly packed in a pleasantly-enough designed box that really undersold the potency of the Mala sauce. They were simple to cook - boil the 12 wontons for 5 minutes, warm up the Mala sauce in hot water and mix them all together. The Mala sauce was a menacing shade of red glistening with Mala oil radiating that signature Mala aroma. The wontons themselves respectably plumped up considerably during cooking. Each had a whole shrimp in them. When mixed together, each wonton ended up adopting an even shade of red with small clumps of Mala sauce noticeable throughout.

I attempted this challenge with Mervin (there is a buddy requirement). From the number of wontons we prepared versus the number consumed, it was clear that we underestimated this challenge. We thought it would be a speed challenge, but it ended up being a spice challenge due to our low spice tolerance and the unexpected heat of the Mala sauce. Out of the 100+ wontons we cooked, we only ate 48 between us within the 5 minutes limit.

Note that our attempt does not count for the official challenge, so please do find a buddy (preferably someone who loves Mala) and win yourself $2000! The wontons are also Halal, so Muslim viewers can join as well!

In this video, I headed down to SMÖÖbar at Prinsep Street to demolish a 3.5kg version of their newest menu item, Mala Creamy Noodles! SMÖÖbar is a bar that serves affordable drinks and innovative bar food. It also has live performances, sometimes by the owner, Alvin, himself!

The dish consisted of around 2 litres of cream reduced down into a thick and luscious sauce, Mala chilli oil that added a pleasingly numbing aftertaste, freshly cut chillies and crispy bacon bits, all tossed with 15 packets of Maggi Instant noodles.

For a single portion, it was an interesting dish with rich sweetness followed by a tingling spicy numbness after every bite. The intermittent bits of bacon added a satisfying salty crunch to take away from the numbing sensation.

However, with such a massive serving size of cream and numbness, it was truly a calorie-dense and “heavy” dish which was difficult to complete quickly, especially given my poor spice tolerance and the outdoor heat. Despite these unforeseen hurdles, I completed this challenge in under 30 minutes.
