今天我們要來學習 instead of 這個片語，中文意思是”作為替代”，它的用法不容易懂，到底是什麼被替代？可以這樣想 instead of + 受詞，這個受詞就是被替代掉的事物或是動作，of 是介系詞，後面如果是接動詞，要變成動名詞 (V-ing) 。

我們來看這個例句I’ll have juice instead of coffee，咖啡是 instead of 的受詞，所以被替代掉的東西就是咖啡，選擇果汁，而非咖啡。再來看這個例句 I decided to call her instead of just waiting，等待是被替代掉，所以打電話給她，而不是等待。
