When our country, Malaysia was hit by the COVID-19 Pandemic, we had to go into something new to everyone known as the Movement Control Order (MCO) to contain the virus from spreading. When the numbers of COVID-19 cases went up, we decided to start a fundraising campaign to raise funds for our Medical Frontliners to protect themselves.
We are extremely 𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙛𝙪𝙡 as within 48 hours, we managed to reach our target of RM 100,000.00 and more!
During the past 84 days of MCO/CMCO, it has taken a hit on all of us from all aspects in the society as COVID-19 does not look at our nationality, our skin color, our access to privileges, our salaries or connections we have,impacting everyone in ways that are beyond our control because we all just had to stay safe as we were dealing with an invisible enemy.
Our on-going work which was feeding the underprivileged children were still running as usual during that period but we quickly realized that the B40 group, migrants or refugee communities were badly affected as most of them are daily or minimal wagers, struggling with basic necessities. We decided to reach out to more of them as hunger knows no barrier. We reached out to the Malays, Chinese, Indians and foreigners, faces without races as we only acted on one common ground: “𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄”
We worked and partnered with companies to enable our dollars drive further to help more families and with the kindness plus love from strangers, the donation kept pouring in during the fund raising campaign.
We took into consideration of what we put in the care pack and how much we gave. We do not intend to provide a feast but at least some proper nutrient to go by or something which they never had the privilege to get. The care pack which we provided were not just the basic necessities. It is a little different where we gave additional vegetable packs and some frozen food.
We partnered with other organizations such as MYCARE, Buku Jalanan Chow Kit, Yellow House as well to reach out to more families.
We have always had a small team and therefore, we are limited to certain job scopes. We are physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted 𝐁𝐔𝐓 at the same time, so grateful and elated by the generosity and kindness from the people!
There were messages and notes from those whom we helped that would lift up our spirits to continue on with our work such as “Terima kasih kepada Little Yellow Flower team kerana anak semakin sihat, Terima kasih Little Yellow Flower kerana ada bagi makan, etc”
We have reached out to 𝟕𝟎𝟖 families in total from young children to elderly folks throughout the 84 days of MCO & CMCO.
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered, supported, donated and believing in the work we do!
As of today, 17th June 2020, we have managed to raise a total of RM 𝟓𝟒𝟕,𝟐𝟏𝟎.𝟏𝟔 and we are closing this fundraising campaign but are 𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐋𝐋 receiving donations as we believe that in the coming months, it will take time for everyone to recuperate financially and emotionally. We will be working towards this cause to continue to provide for the current and new families.
