How does the Paralympic classification system work?

Like the Olympics, the Paralympics are taking place a year after originally planned because of the delay caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
如同奧運,由於新冠肺炎大流行造成延誤,帕運比原計畫晚了一年舉行。
According to the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), there are 2550 male and 1853 female athletes taking part in Games, which run from August 24 to September 5.
根據國際帕運委員會(IPC)的統計,從8月24日到9月5日舉行的帕運,有2550名男性運動員和1853名女性運動員參與。
"Classification is the cornerstone of the Paralympic Movement, it determines which athletes are eligible to compete in a sport and how athletes are grouped together for competition,' says the IPC.

What makes a Paralympian?
是什麼造就一位帕運運動員?
Paralympians are grouped together by the "degree of activity limitation resulting from the impairment," according to the IPC.

As different sports require different physical demands, the IPC says the classification process "aims to minimize the impact of the impairment on athletes' performance" so that their athletic prowess is showcased.

What do the classes in each sport mean?

The class groups athletes with similar athletic limitations so that they can compete to similar levels, but does not necessarily have to solely group athletes with the same eligible impairment.
分類會將具有相似運動限制的運動員分組在一起,讓他們以相似的水平競爭,但不一定必須將具有相同缺陷條件的運動員分在一起。
Because some impairments progress over time, athletes can change classification over time.

哈囉各位大家好,我是魍魅物理治療師Amber~
運動員必須要注意的問題:『女性運動員運動關聯性三症候群; The female athlete triad 』
👩🏻先來講什麼是女性運動員三聯症?
發生在運動活躍、必須追求體態、美學要求訓練成效的女性選手。
👉🏻其組成條件?
-能量攝取不足且沒有異常飲食行為(Low Energy availability with disordered eating )
-月經功能異常(Menstrual dysfunction)
-骨密度低(Low bone mineral density (BMD) )
👉🏻三聯症通常會合併1~2症狀出現,我們會稱為前三聯特徵(pretriad),這個時候就必須介入且預防症狀發生。
‼️但在2014年國際奧委會,提出一個更完整新名詞:『運動能量相對不足relative energy deficiency of sports』來代表三聯症的生理問題。其實在『能量攝取缺乏』的情況下,導致代謝率、月經功能、骨骼健康、免疫、蛋白質合成和心血管健康等功能受損。對象不僅僅是女性、男性也可能會有因為能量不足的情況下有生理功能問題發生。(這部分之後會再寫一篇討論)
‼️高風險因子的運動:
-強調瘦身、體態或耐力、體重的運動,例如:游泳、跳水、跑步、舞蹈、體操、啦啦隊、划船、摔角、拳擊。
‼️要如何篩檢出高機率的運動員?
2014年發表的醫學期刊,發表了關於『三聯症的篩選問卷』,建議在高中及大學的女性運動員篩檢,有任何其中一項,建議進一步檢查。
最後Amber想說:
-三聯症的問題會造成早期和長期後果,生理、心理都會影響運動表現。了解三聯症的問題能夠讓我們提早預防以及發現,最好的狀況是整個團隊都必須了解目前選手的狀況。

📍強壯沒有單一指標,會以大肌群多關節項目來觀察。
📍與人的福祉相關:不違背健康,不需要滿足別人的期待,跟過去的自己相比,所以關注最大肌力。
📍脂肪可以提供結構性的支撐,不能提供收縮的力量。
📍男生女生的神經系統的徵召區別?
📍男生的1RM,與女生的1RM,會在80%的高強度區有不同的表現。
📍女生的耐力表現較好,男生的單次最大肌力表現好。女生的最大力量幅度會比較小。
📍男生容易高估1RM,女生容易低估1RM。
📍女生訓練,建議以高強度為主,才會更接近最大肌力。男生
📍男生只能做一下(1RM)可能有好幾種重量。
📍假設男生女生有同樣最大肌力,實際上女生是比較強壯的。
📍女生比男生更有機會成為比賽黑馬與超水準演出,Why?
📍健力比賽,教練與女選手的配合與質化評估。
📍你監控你的體脂肪?還是監控你的肌力?
📍美國的Barbell Logic身體組成監控兩件事:【體重上升】【腰臀比下降】
📍BMI只有在你見不到這過人的時後有意義。

📍女生訓練因為需要比較大重量的刺激,但也比較危險需要教練幫忙監控。
📍中老年長輩媽媽開始訓練會比爸爸好進步。
📍運動研究男生數據遠大於女生,其中一個原因是因為女生有月經週期,較難監控。
📍蹲舉兩倍自體重是一個特別指標,為什麼呢?
📍蹲舉2倍,臥舉1.5倍,硬舉2~2.5倍自體重的應用指標,但要注意身材的肢段比例。
📍比賽永遠是一個假議題,目標是促成大家一起努力強壯的方向。
📍老年人與年輕人的運動差別,主要在於恢復能力。
📍如果大家都在努力的路上,有人開跑車,有人走路,只要不停下來,最後都會走到目的地。
📍年輕女生的進步表現可能沒有男生快,但是持續不斷累積的進步也是非常可觀。
📍訓練是為了卡關,卡關是一定發生的,該換訓練週期或是訓練法。
📍一直亂換週期也有可能造成無效訓練。
📍美國與前蘇聯的進步曲線不同,美國認為是微幅波浪往上進步,蘇聯相信是階梯狀進步。
📍大陸的教練,在追高強度的訓練,男生兩週高一週低,女生是三週高一週低(月經)。
📍女生月經週期,身體反應個別化差異很大。
