Via coincidence, I was about to cook a Portuguese-Porto "Francesinha" since I can't visit Macau 🇲🇴 🇵🇹 to eat one, but I suddenly saw it pop up on @where_is_alfie 's IG Story 👀. It turns out【Duck & Waffle Hong Kong 🦆】is selling one briefly for their 1st Anniversary Celebration !

The "Francesinha" HKD$250 by design, is a boosted up concept between a French Croque Monsieur x Portuguese Bife a Casa/Prego Steak Sandwich which suits the locals preference for Steak & Eggs, known as one of the Best Sandwiches in the World 🌍🤔 - this one is a loyal rendition since it was created by ex-executive Chef Daniel Barbosa who was born near Porto:

•Grilled Beef Steak
•Fried Duck Egg 🦆🥚

Usually the sauce is proprietary and lends a soul to the final Character..! Reminds me also of a Welsh Rarebit on steroids. So overjoyed to discover this on the Duck & Waffle HK celebratory menu, since this is usually on the London late night menu! I think I ordered it on last day it's served here, but wished they can sustain it longer & ideally serve with some fries on the side! 😬😝

While the traditional Bolo bao recipes (aka pineapple buns / 菠萝包 / 菠蘿包) don’t actually use pineapples, our recipe adds real pineapples for an extra tangy sweetness. These buns are made even better with Farmhouse fresh milk from Australia (https://bit.ly/3ewvcoc), giving them a natural milky flavour.

200g Bread flour
3g Yeast
150g Farmhouse Fresh milk
15g Condensed milk
3g Salt
23g Unsalted butter (cut into cubes)
Bolo Topping:
35g Sugar
35g Salted butter (room temperature)
½ Egg (beaten)
1 tsp Vanilla extract
3 Pineapple rings, approx. 115g
95g Cake flour
13g Dry milk powder
⅛ tsp Baking soda
⅛ tsp Baking powder
Egg wash:
