I have been reading some really unkind comments about my friend @yasminhani with regards to her views about caning.
For starters, she was misquoted and the editor has since, corrected the title of the article. She never said the usage of Rotan is no longer relevant.
Secondly, she never said she's never been caned . What she was trying to convey is the fact that Rotan or Caning, is not the answer to everything when it comes to disciplining a student/child.
I personally hate punishing my children by hitting them. No matter how "light" or "swift" or "softly" when they do wrong. I've done it once on Isobel and I felt terrible. So I vowed never to punish her that way. Ever.
I'd rather raise my voice firmly, (not shouting or screaming my head off), to show my displeasure. And because I barely get really cross, when I raise my voice, the kids get scared.
I prefer talking to my children and to explain why I'm hurt and upset with their (in)actions.
But this is my parenting style.
Back to Hani. You know what peeves me off the most? Yang dok condemn and commenting unkind replies are mostly TEACHERS! With ungraceful words!
I told her to ignore it as we, her family and friends, know her intentions and know the REAL YASMIN HANI, but when my sister and bestie feels down and sad, this bugs me big time. So please understand the story better now.
Stop the cyberbullying. She's not just an amazing mother to Noah, but to our children too.
