“Love” isn’t a word thats’s said quite often in the Chinese culture,
it’s not common to show affection,
to hug, to kiss, to touch.
It’s strictly only for those who are married, or in an intimate relationship, and done discreetly.
To me, I think it’s a waste to not show people you care about them, that you love them.
I grew up in a very affectionate family where we made sure there’s always eye contact, there’s warmth when we hug, when we give someone a pat on the back, when we hold each others hand. We say “I love you” and we mean it.
I grew up in such an environment, and I’ve been used to such physical contact, extending this habit even onto my friends, even people I teach, I work with.
I remember I once made a handshake with a man, he was surprised and said “that’s a very firm handshake for a girl” And I simply replied “that’s my father”
He taught me how to shake people’s hands, how to present myself, how to talk to people in the eye.
He showed me what love means, what it looks like, and what it does to a person.
I’ve been blessed to have so much of it, especially on my birthday yesterday.
I want to thank everyone for all the sweet warm wishes, who didn’t shy away and showed me so much love and affection,
I wish nothing but the best for you all.

This is something I wish little one could learn from me.
Love may not worth anything in the bank,
but it gives you the best things in life that money cannot buy.
