Hyde Park Spring 10km ✅
Mission failed 😭
Came back with a 34:15 min for 10.06km and second overall!
Lost to an Olympian, a Belgian Women Athlete with 2:30 PR on her Marathon and she was 10th placing on Berlin Marathon which earned her a slot to take part in Tokyo 2020 Olympic.
It was a tough race as the wind was so strong that blew against us! Couldn't push hard enough but I gave me best effort today.
Was leading up to 3.5km and got caught up by her and another guy (3rd placing today). Tried my best to stay with them, but only manage to keep up with 500m and start to drop back. After the first 5km lap, managed to catch up with the guy and overtook him and now down to the Olympian. I was having a 50-100m gap with her, eventually it build up to 150-200m gap. In the last 1.5km, I start to dig dip and and turn on the final gear. Closing down the gap to only 30m in the end once she crossed the finishing line. Ended up like just a few seconds after her.
Although I am not happy with my time today but I am glad that I am able to pedal the final gear from 1.5km to go and close down the gap. At one point during the last 1.5km, my mind was visualizing on overtaking her, the image is so clear, therefore I was able to push really hard for that last stretch!
