The …. days of MCO
The kids have not gone out for about 20 days.
Everyday they are sleeping and waking up early. Their daily activities are all about eating, drinking, playing mischievously, looming around from the entrance till the backyard, running across the floors in the house. Most of the times they are filled with joys and laughter, except occasionally crying of fighting for toys.
In the innocent children world, there is no yesterday or today, but at the moment. They are embraced by happiness because their parents are with them almost 24 hours in a day. This is literally a luxurious for the modern era children.
What about myself?
This sudden pandemic makes people feeling unconsciously anxiety. Despite of that, my heart gradually calmed down and distractions are reduced because of retreating myself at home during the Movement Control Order. Pray humbly when panic of anxiety attacks or even tranquillity. The two state of minds are the same, but the mood is distinct.
I have stocked up the fridges with load of foods, the parents of my kid’s school are very thoughtful, they are helping other mothers to purchase the organic farmed vegetables and fruits. Having to eat the organic vegetables and fruits farmed by the farmers at this very difficult time, it had deeply touched my heart.
Every time when I receive the vegetables box, it reminisces me the good nature of the high mountain and the warmth of soil.
A good friend of mine told me her nephew and wife are working at the frontline, joining along with many other frontliners, working very hard day and night for the nation to strive the Corona virus.
They are living their day in a hard challenge, whenever I think of them, I will tell myself to stay at home and live my live to the best.
We have plenty of time in day as we away from a busy pace of life. Thus, I may unhurried to open up the fridge, with the heart full of appreciation towards the foods to plan the breakfast, lunch, teatime and dinner menu for the kids. Creativity is what I need to spice up the meals (due to the shortage of ingredients) and fully enjoying the preparation time of foods for myself and family.
Cooking the black rice porridge at the welcoming morning light, baking pizza with the afternoon breeze or frying egg or vegetables during the thunderstorm seems to be like the very best moments in life.
Someone said that emotion is important during cooking because that good energy will be going along with the foods, while the people enjoying the foods can absorb all these good energies to nurture the body, mind and soul.
I always feel that the foods prepared by my grandmother and mother is exceptionally delicious and the reason is that they are preparing the foods with compassion.
I can see a big tree outside through the ceiling glass from my painting studio. It likes to dance in the wind, pouring with good scent of greenery during the rain, and talking softly at night.
When I continue to create the lines on the painting canvas, the tree is there to accompanying and returning smiles to me.
Each painting is the conversation and monologue between me myself and I.
Every few days, I will be video calling my parents, my brothers & my sisters in-law, making fun and bring laughter to them.
I send my food photos to my mother everyday and telling her I am the better cook (of course I am only joking to my mom).
There are some hours in a day, I will be sitting peacefully, closing my eyes to listen to the voices of the surroundings.
The cars are getting lesser these days, so the bird and worms chirpings are more audible.
In such a peaceful days, what else more I can do?
The two branches of Little Yellow Flower Foundation had temporarily ceased operation due to MCO.
We are worrying particularly for the low-income family because they will not able to generate income during the MCO. Staffs from the Foundation started to caretaking and prepared foods to make sure that they are able to cope with the difficult time.
The teacher in the kid’s school get to know that hospital is running out of medical supplies. Hence, the kind parents started fund raising to donate medical supplies to the hospital.
After discussed with the teacher, I decided to raise fund and to create public awareness through the Little Yellow Flower Foundation.
The parents in the school providing their kindness by sourcing medical supply, and some even made handcraft to seek donations. The fund raising had received tremendous responds from the community including those who are living abroad. Everybody show their best support on the fund raising.
There was a news saying that a family of 3 were sitting at the bench in the park. They have been starving for 3 days and a kind police bought them foods.
When I get to know this news, my tears almost burst out.
Thus, our Foundation took immediate effort to reach out more unprivileged families the food supplies and helps, this had extended from the initial 33 families and now a total of 151 families are covered with the helps from the Foundation.
We are unable to predict the future, but we may cherish and live every moments of our life. Love yourself, loving people that around you and also love the mother earth.
Sometimes we need to unwind and quiet down ourselves and to listen to voice of the nature.
During the time, I have seen dragonfly flying around the house after so long, the kids were chasing it up and down happily. The birds that normally resting on the tree are roaming at grass of the yard, the squirrels swaying freely on the road with lesser cars.
Let’s pray for the pandemic to end as soonest, continue to bravely fight the Corona virus by supporting each other as well as taking the chance of this quiet time to collect your thoughts.
Let us resolve this battle with love.

One Song a Day - Red River Valley (紅河村). Song link at the bottom.
•
Hong Kong real life story here. Red River Valley represents the local public housings, that’s where I grew up, and my only wish was to leave.
My wish did come true, not confined to anything which might appear to be a blessing at first. Every blessing comes with a cost, after all.

Red River Valley
(Chet Lam)
•
There’s a big world outside the small window
On the grey dusty balcony I heard the buzzing cars going all day long
Just a few hundred meters away there’s a paradise called Kai Tak Airport
Where planes coming and leaving carrying all my wishes
•
I never understood the chess games under the banyan tree
I just knew that the caged singing birds wanted to fly far away
There were longings scattered around the Red River Valley
People, please don’t leave too rush
Seasons changed, how many faces will remain
•
I loved biking from Tai Po to Plover Cove (suburb)
Even taking buses or trains it’s still far away, but it’s never boring
Every inch of the highway was bringing me closer to the heart of the city
Sometimes, I admired distance
•
Every morning on the bus my heartbeat started raising
Cause in the sun lit classroom I could peek at you sitting by the window
We made a pledge in football court No. 7 in Tse Wan Shan (a local neighborhood)
That we would hug each other again in ten years next to the Harbor of Tsim Sha Tsui East (a commercial district)
•
How are you, the one sitting next to the window
Are you happy today?
Is there anyone willing to validate your dreams in reality?
•
Obeying all the rules wishing to climb to the top
Or enjoying your youth to the max, no caring about the outcome
Growing up everyone has some regret
And some good surprises flashing by
Behind every face there’s some sorrow brewing
•
Not settling in yet but I am about to take off again
From the plane I watched this flashy little island
Every longing from the Red River Valley is flying to the ends of the world
I am grateful that you did not fall in love with me after all
•
Every wish from the Red River Valley is drifting in the ends of the world
I am grateful that you did not fall in love with me after all

We all love to travel. So how can we reduce the environmental impact of flying?
Although aviation currently only contributes 2% of global man-made carbon emissions, it is good to know that the aviation industry leaders are coming together to discuss how they can make progressive changes to reduce environmental impact, considering that travel is projected to multiply twofold in the next few years!
Avoiding or reducing air travel and taking alternative ground transport like electric trains and buses are viable alternatives especially for well connected cities like Europe and Japan, wherever possible of course. We can also opt for hybrid/fuel efficient cars on roadtrips, instead of city hopping via domestic flying.
While we wait for technological improvements on fuel efficiency, the most immediate and viable option is through carbon offset, by donating to green projects that will help compensate for our emissions per flight. Hardly a new concept, it is unfortunately not mainstream, not at least in Singapore where we hardly find airlines that allow us to pay for offsets as an option in the booking process (hence not reminding us of our flight’s carbon impact). Though it may sound like an easy way out to many, it is still better to do something than do nothing. If your airline does not have a carbon offset option, the Gold Standard initiative by WWF have green initiatives that you can support online. You can also check out www.standfortrees.org to see how you can offset your carbon footprint.
Raising kids to have an environmental conscience also helps! It may seem insignificant, but they are the ones who will be helping to look after the planet long after we are gone.

are flying cars good 在 Annie Tran Youtube 的最佳解答
Good morning families, supporters, and fellow seniors. Let's stop for a moment and pretend we're all in English class, but without the 400 page novel. The standard for today is going to be the past, present, and future tense.
First up, past tense. I want you all to flashback to life before high school. Things were easy, were they not? We couldn't show off our breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Instagram like we can today. Things were simple. First world problems here and there, but we survived. Let's go back a bit further. See this piece of paper. This is what we are like when we are born. A blank, smooth, and clean slate. Now, fast forward a few years. We enter high school.
Suddenly, assignments pile and continue to pile. Friendships, if we're lucky, continue as acquaintances; if we're unlucky, become broken. Some days, we compare ourselves to what you see now. Our lives start to feel all crumpled up. But to make it through another day, what do we do? We smooth out the edges, and we carry on.
We argue with our parents. We think we're right. We're never right. We meet a boy, or a girl. We think we understand that four letter word, "love." We don't understand. Unless you've successfully found your high school sweetheart, then good for you!
But for the rest of us, we cry. We post depressing statuses on Facebook about being "hash tag forever alone." Some days, we want to rip our hearts out. Like this. But to make it through another day, what do we do? We hold the pieces together, and we carry on.
Fast forward to right now. Welcome to the present. We are here together. After four years. Goodness knows what we can do in one night. Especially the night before finals, the night before that five-page essay is due, the night the word "sleep" becomes non-existent. Or the night you just can't log off League of Legends. So think about it. If that's what we can do in one night, what have we accomplished over this span of four years? Let me answer my own question in two words. A lot.
High school has not only taught us how to solve for "x" or what went on in Shakespeare's mind, but it has also taught us how to do the impossible. We have learned how to procrastinate effectively. We have pulled all-nighters and lived to tell of it. We have asked a crush to prom even though fear of rejection made our knees quiver and the actuality of rejection meant social suicide. Oh, and we survived the end of the world in 2012.
And now we're coming towards the end of this chapter in our lives. Every wrinkle, every edge, every wear and tear on this sheet of paper. They are stories. Lessons. Mistakes. But we have a choice. A choice to continue to look like this, or a choice to do something about it. To put all the pieces back together, into something like this. This is what we can grow to be. This is what we have grown to be. This is what matters.
We are reaching into a new world. Let's refer to this new world as the "future." To make it through another day, what must we do? We must fight. Let me share a quick story. I watched my grandpa fight cancer for a year. Just last month, he lost that fight. I began to question the purpose of fighting my fears, fighting through my struggles, and fighting for what I want.
Have you ever had days where you felt like flying? Perhaps you aced a test. Your crush said yes to your prom proposal. Your parents bought you a new car. But have you ever had days where you felt like falling? You failed a test. You ended a relationship. You disappointed your parents. Sometimes, all the above in one day. Welcome to the life of this paper airplane. It can fly in some moments. But what do we do when it falls? We pick it up, throw it out there, and put it back in the air. That's what we are going to do with our lives.
When we fall, we are going to pick ourselves up. Push ourselves. And carry on. In doing this, we will become better students. Better friends. Better sons and daughters. Better people. And Grandpa, wherever you are, I will become that better person for you.
We have changed, and we will continue to change. But we are not the only ones changing. The world around us is changing. We can talk to our smartphones. Cars are running on electricity. We have laptops that are thinner than my English notebook. We are all moving forward, and life after high school, is just the next big step.
So that wraps up today's lesson on past, present, and future tense. Don't worry, there will be no test tomorrow, or ever again. Just kidding, we'll see tests again in college and in life, but that's another problem for another day. So, to accomplish the goal of today's lesson, remember the words of Albus Dumbledore: "It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be." Class is dismissed.
