How to Successfully Birth an Answered Prayer
“...How is it that you have conceived this thing in your heart? You haven’t lied to men, but to God.”” (Acts 5:4 WEB)
The Holy Spirit said “conceived this thing in your heart” and led me to the verse above.
Did you know that thoughts conceived in your heart are very similar to how babies are conceived in their mothers’ wombs?
By studying God’s design of pregnancy, we can gain a deeper insight into how we birth things through prayer.
One aspect I want to focus on today is the amniotic sac and fluid. The fetus must be surrounded by amniotic fluid like water.
Medical science tells us that these are some reasons that amniotic fluid is important:
1. Protecting the fetus by cushioning from outside pressures, acting as a shock absorber.
2. Infection control because the amniotic fluid contains antibodies.
3. Muscle and bone development. The fetus breathes and swallows the amniotic fluid, and moves about.
Just as it takes about nine months from conception to delivery, it often takes time for a prayer request to be answered.
That prayer grows like a fetus in your heart, and the water of God’s word functions like amniotic fluid to help you birth the answer to your prayers.
When you keep receiving God’s word, it cushions you from external pressures. When bad things happen to you, it does not shake your faith. You can still confidently believe and expect that your prayer will be answered.
Receiving God’s word also purifies your faith, acting like antibodies that destroy any infection of unbelief.
Receiving the water of God’s word also strengthens and develops you, making you patient and perseverant as you await the answer to your prayers.
Just as it can be fatal for a fetus not to have enough amniotic fluid, you must keep your prayer alive and growing by consistently receiving God’s word.
Seeing a Spirit-led thought grow into an answered prayer is a journey that is more like a marathon rather than a sprint. Nurture that prayer like a mother lovingly protects her unborn child.
Just as a pregnant lady expects to see her child after nine months, you too can confidently expect to see the answer to your prayers, as long as you keep nourishing that prayer with faith in God’s word!
