My final two portraits for #seedsofhope is dedicated to Bill and Melinda Gates.
.
The Gates Foundation has emerged as a leader in the coronavirus response. When the pandemic that Bill Gates long warned about arrived, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation got to work on philanthropic initiatives to fight it. They pledged $300 million in total commitments; much of it has gone into distributing treatments and vaccines in the developing world. From @voxdotcom: “The foundation funds vaccinations through programs like GAVI, which Gates set up with a $750 million grant in 1999 and which is estimated to have saved millions of lives. The foundation’s support to GAVI has totaled $4.1 billion to date. The Gates Foundation funds fights against diseases like malaria and polio, and in its first 20 years of existence, it has spent some $40 billion on global development and public health programs.”

I mentioned recently to friends how Bill Gates is probably THE (business) leader I look up to the most now...and I totally admire how he’s done so much together with his wife by his side all these years.

#seedsofhope is a series featuring 10 people rendered in seeds from my pantry. This was made of peanuts. These portraits are dedicated to people who have brought hope and inspiration during this time. There are so many more people I’d love to have included in this...researching on heroes made me smile during this challenging period. @thisisbillgates
