Bear witness to humanity through an eclectic visual story of music, culture, and creative freedom as fine-art photographer Sheila Pree Bright takes us back to Afropunk 2019 in Atlanta.

Engulfed in a sea of vibrant colors and bold styles, Sheila’s shares her perspective through a monochromatic series of portraits and scenes, capturing the soul and personalities of her subjects. Discover what it means to “capture the heart and soul” of your subjects to tell a bigger story. The program is moderated by documentary photographer, Devin Allen.

“In 2019, I attended the Afropunk Festival in Atlanta, Georgia, in the Mechanicsville community whose theme was the 'Carnival of Consciousness.' As I enter the space, I move through the sound of the music and laughter. Drunk sleeping in taxis is a song that I hold very close to my heart. It is about a fear I have of not being loved the same way when I’m seen at my worst by the people I love. It is about how I can get scared to be the one I don’t like and show the worst part of me… It is very easy to idealize you and like you at your best but when you’re drunk sleeping in taxis, irrational, crying for no reason, at your worst, would people still feel the same about you? I wrote it out and it healed me. People tend to see me as a very happy, positive, smiley person which reflects true parts of me but I have so many insecurities and flaws that I’m afraid to show and the worst part of me that I’m afraid to be. This song is an act of courage to choose to share this other vulnerable page of my life cause normalizing the human side of us over perfection is something I wish I can always do. I guess the lyrics speak for themselves and with this song I just spoke my truth on a 2am night when I couldn’t sleep, few days after a party that has gone wrong...

Filipino sing-along time! My good friend, musical director Amuer Calderon, popped by Baumhaus to help me with another project.

We also brainstormed ideas on celebrating Filipino music. And we ended up playing this Pinoy favourite.

For those who don’t speak Filipino, the song “Ikaw” (“You”) actually says, “I can see tomorrow because there’s YOU” (albeit a bit more poetically).

閂山為台灣第80號百岳，標高3168公尺，屬於中央山脈北二段，為百岳「八秀」之一。

【交通簡介】
本次為兩天一夜行程。前往閂山、鈴鳴山需經過730林道，至11.7K車行終點前路況相當差且會車不易，建議採接駁方式前往(本次請光果農場-王小明登山服務站協助)。
